10/9-All students turned in their final narratives via Google Doc.
10/10-. This quarter we will be reading “Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!” The setting is the Middle Ages, and we are focusing on the theme of adversity. We will spend the first couple of weeks researching the Middle Ages using informational texts before we dive into the book. Later in the quarter, we will be reading poetry.
**No homework** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MODULE 2 WORKBOOK CAN BE FOUND IN STUDENT'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM AND ON THE WEEBLY.
10/11- In class we read an excerpt on Middle Ages and identified unknown words and tried to find adversities outlined in text. (Remember, the theme of this 9 weeks is "adversity".) We digged deeper in the text, talked about the "gist" , identified adversities and used textual evidence to support our responses and discussed how the M.A's began and ended . Students filled out a "word Catcher" in their workbooks for unknown words.
Homework-pg. 5-7 in workbook. Make sure questions are answered in complete sentences.
Here is a online copy of your Module 2 workbook....please use when needed.
10/2-Students worked on an assignment that is posted in Google classroom. They were allowed to work in groups or independently, but know that this work leads up to a final product that will be a test grade. Please look at the assignment for more information. I handed out to students who asked a hard copy. I have asked all students to please review their answers from class today for homework. They do not have to finish the assignment, just review their classwork.
10/3-Students are going to the media center (10 minutes) and then students will finish the assignment posted on google classroom.
10/4-In class students read/analyzed a narrative that followed "The Hero's Journey" format and then they began to plan their own story that followed the common pattern of "The Hero's Journey." We will be working on this essay for the next several school days.
10/6..Classes were in the media center where each student had a lap top to create/type their narrative draft. All narratives are due Monday at the end of class. I have encouraged the students to please read, revise, edit their work over the weekend. All directions and rubric on how their assignment will be graded can be shown on the students Google classroom site.
PLEASE BRING BACK TO CLASS YOUR ELA WORKBOOK!!! WE WILL NEED TO COMPLETE A FEW ASSIGNMENTS FROM THAT WORKBOOK BEFORE WE START IN OUR NEW MODULE. THANK YOU!!

Class-Discussed the analytical process of writing a mini essay based on the connection between theme from a myth and the key elements of mythology. The students had a copy of a mini essay that they had to analyze regarding the format/information presented in the essay. Students will be writing their own essay next week, so we are preparing for this.
Homework-Read ch. 16 in PJLT...use evidence flags to mark the 3 allusions that are in the text. Compile a list of challenging vocabulary words from the reading.
Class-we are invited to a "Book Tasting" in the Media Center. Classes will be held there and Mrs.Jones will be leading the lesson. This is to encourage more reading!!

Wed. Aug 30- Homework-prepare journal to turn in for a test grade on Tus. 9/5.
Class-we worked on mini essay, coming up with theme of Cronus and connecting to The Key ELements of Mythology.
I am out Thursday for training and Friday for personal reasons. For homework, they are to read Chapter 17 in The Lightning Thief and prepare journal to turn in on 9/5
Monday-Aug 21- In class I checked to make sure that the students used flags to mark the important details of Ch. 12. This was an assignment from the week of Aug. 14 and I had several students that did not do this. Also, if your child is absent from school, he/she must get their makeup work. Telling me that they were absent on the day of my assignment is not an excuse for not having the work done. My homework is posted on the board all week and there is a team website as well.
We wrote a response to events of Ch 12 in class as well as completed a venn diagram of "Shrouded in Myth" and "Cronus"-detailed the mythological elements as well as plot details. This information that we are collecting will be used at a later date for another assignment.
Homework-Read chapters 13-14...flag any important details from the story.
In class-we discussed broadening our depth of knowledge through the text(s) that we are reading in conjunction with The Lightning Thief. We discussed the emerging theme as well as pivotal moments in the story to help identify why and how it changes the plot of the story.
Journal-14-Desribe a pivotal moment in your life.
Homework-If student did not finish classroom assignment, please go to Google classroom and complete there.
The students worked in groups of 2/3 and discussed chapters 13 and 14 of "PJ-TLT". We reviewed the parts in the story that were pivotal and the students did a graphic representation along with the quote and why.
Homework-AOW due Friday
