Monday, Feb 5-In class, I modeled answers so that the students could see how to answer questions that dealt with author's pov. (They had a chance to review and make edits to their statements if needed to.) The students had to read other paragraphs from chapter 4 and find evidence of Mark Kurlansky's pov in regards to Thomas Huxley's actions. This activity is in preparation for their test on Wed. where the students will be given a reading activity and picking out author's pov, following up with textual evidence and then indicating if the information is stated directly or inferred.
Homework-finish the graphic organizer on page 17-18 (pertains to 1st period) and then complete the google classroom assignment, reading and filling out the answers on the google doc. (The google classroom assignment is NOT for a grade, it is just for me and for data purposes to help drive my smartblock lessons/gauge skill ability.)
Tuesday, 2/6-In class we prepared for the test on Wed. I allowed the students to go ahead and read the pages where the test will focus on. (pgs 70-75). I have asked the students to read to prepare for the guiding question that they will have to answer.
Also in class, we reviewed an assignment that was assigned in Google Classroom. It is titled "Base Stealer" and we analyzed the poem through its use of figurative language. Even though these assessments are not for a grade, I will be reviewing the students scores and for those who are consistently low, I will be asking them to stay in for smartblock.
Homework-Read pages 70-75 in novel and be prepared for test. The test will be based on how the authors conveys his point of view.
