In class we discussed the main idea of an informational text based on details from the test. Students also analyzed how key individuals, events or ideas are developed throughout the text and used a variety of strategies to identify unknown words. (Identifying unknown words should be recorded in their word catcher and they are to use their device or dictionary independently to meet this requirement.)
Homework-Reread the graphic novel on page 20 in their novel and answer this question on a sheet of notebook paper=What do we learn about fishing from the graphic novel? How does Mark Kurlansky illustrate and elaborate on the idea of fish depletion?
Homework-Read part 3 of the graphic novel (pg.38) and answer the following question: What do we learn about fishing from the graphic novel? How does Mark Kurlansky illustrate and elaborate on the idea of fish depletion?
MID UNIT ASSESSMENT=there is nothing to study, it is just a review of all of the tasks that we have been doing in class. (Analyzing idea development in Chapter 3 in novel)
Read pages 52-61 in novel and then complete workbook pages 16-17.
There will be a test next week...probably on Wednesday
