Monday, April 2: Finish the "Excerpts from the Way of the Samurai" worksheet.
In Class Today: Students will review the feudal system of Japan. They will learn about the role of the samurai in the feudal system. Warm Up: Reading on the Korean bone rank system. Tuesday, April 3: Finish the caste system worksheet. In Class Today: Students will learn about the caste system of ancient India. Warm Up: Comparison of the Code of Bushido to the Code of Chivalry. Wednesday, April 4: Finish the "Women in the Ancient World" Google Classroom activity. In Class Today: Students will complete a Google Classroom activity on the role of women in the ancient world. Warm Up: Compare ancient India's caste system to another social hierarchy we have studied this year. Explain how they are similar and different. Thursday, April 5: Bring colored pencils and/or markers. In Class Today: Students will begin an in class collaborative project. They will create a paper slide video on one of the social structures we have learned about during this unit. Today, students will research and gather information for the video. Warm Up: What was the role of women in the social structures of the ancient world? Friday, April 6: Bring colored pencils and/or markers. In Class Today: Students will continue to work on the paper slide video project. Rough drafts for their slides should be completed. Warm Up: None. Saturday, March 24: No homework.
In Class Today: Students worked on their quarter 3 Create a Civilization project. If you were not here today, please check with your group and make sure that the work is complete. If not, make plans to come for Smart Block either Tuesday or Wednesday to finish. Warm Up: None. Monday, March 26: No homework. In Class Today: Students learned the meaning of the following terms: social hierarchy, interdependence and equity. They annotated a text about one of the roles in ancient Mesopotamian society. They then created an interdependence chart in which they collaborated with their table groups to analyze the connections among the various levels of Mesopotamian society. Warm Up: Read "A Father's Complaint" and write a reflection. Tuesday, March 27: Finish the Egypt worksheet. In Class Today: Students will use video and text to determine who played the most important role in Egyptian society. Warm Up: How do we determine the value of jobs in the U.S.? Wednesday, March 28: No homework. In Class Today: Students will learn about the social classes in Ancient Rome. They will explore daily life in Rome by reading "If You Lived in Ancient Rome." Warm Up: Review Egypt's social classes. Thursday, March 29: No homework. In Class Today: Students will learn about Japan's feudal system. Warm Up: Medieval feudal system review (in groups).
