In Class Today: Students will review for tomorrow's test. They will finish their Five Themes posters. Warm Up: Map practice Tuesday, July 26: No homework. In Class Today: Geography test. Warm Up: None Wednesday, July 27: No homework. In Class Today: Students will answer the question, "Who Were the First Americans?" by analyzing maps and reading an article with guiding questions. Warm Up: Why do different regions of the world develop different customs and cultures? Thursday, July 28: No homework. In Class Today: Students will learn more about the early native Americans. They will complete a chart about several North American groups. Warm Up: How did the first people migrate to America? Friday, July 29: No homework. In Class Today: Students will learn more about Kennewick Man and the implications this discovery had for our knowledge about how people first migrated to America. Warm Up: Who were the first Americans? Monday July 18: No homework.
In Class Today: Students will learn about the geographic theme of movement and discuss the reasons people migrate. They will analyze posters from the book Material World. Warm Up: During Friday's activity, how did your group get the supplies you needed? Tuesday July 19: Make sure you bring your composition book to class. In Class Today: Students will learn about the concept of Human/Environmental Interaction. They will read newspaper articles and look for examples of H/E I. They will review Movement. Warm Up: Write an example of Movement. Wednesday July 20: Geography Unit test will be on Tuesday, July 26. Study the vocabulary sheet and world map that are in your composition book. In Class Today: Students will learn about the geographic themes of Place and Region. They will complete a picture analysis activity on these topics. They will review all five themes of geography. Warm Up: Write an example of H/E I. Thursday July 21: Finish the Culture Pictures Worksheet. In Class Today: Students will explore the concept of culture. They will continue the poster analysis activity. Warm Up: What is the difference between Place and Region? Friday July 22: Study for Tuesday's test. In Class Today: Students will review all five themes of geography. They will begin working on creating a poster about one of the five themes of geography. Warm Up: Map practice activity. Monday 7/11: **First period students, please remember to return the filled out and signed paper work to me, including the yellow folder you were given. These sheets must be returned in order for you to receive your locker on Tuesday. Practice opening your lock!**
Finish your "Me Map." Remember to include at least five physical features that tell me something about you (i.e. "Wolfpack Woods" or "Hockey Harbor"). Be sure to color your map and give it a title. In Class Today: Students will learn about classroom procedures. They will review the meaning of the term "physical feature." They will use this knowledge to create a map of an imaginary country which tells us something about them. Tuesday 7/12: Finish the World Map worksheet. In Class Today: Students will review classroom procedures. They will review the different types of maps and the important parts of maps. Warm Up: Share the Me Maps. Wednesday 7/13: No homework. In Class Today: Students will go over warm up procedures. They will learn the difference between absolute and relative location. Warm Up: What is above North Carolina? Thursday, 7/14: Study the definitions of absolute and relative location on the vocabulary sheet in your composition book for a quiz tomorrow. In Class Today: Students will review absolute and relative location. They will play latitude and longitude bingo. Warm Up: What is the difference between absolute and relative location? Friday, 7/15: No homework. In Class Today: Students will take the quiz on absolute and relative location. They will learn about the concept of scarcity of resources. Warm Up: Scarcity simulation. |
