In Class Today: Students will begin working on their achievement stations. They will complete a total of four stations.: Writing, Math, Ancient Sports, and Art. All work is due at the beginning of class on Friday. See the attached rubric. Warm Up: None. Tuesday, November 28: Bring in anything you need for your stations. In Class Today: Students will continue working on the achievement stations. Warm Up: None. Wednesday, November 29: Bring in anything you need for your stations. All work is due at the beginning of class on Friday. In Class Today: Students will continue to work on their achievement stations. Warm Up: None. Thursday, November 30: All station work is due tomorrow. Make sure it is stapled or attached in some other way and that the rubric is on top of all of your work. In Class Today: Students will be working on the second quarter portion of their year-long Create a Civilization project. They will be adding religion and achievements in both written and visual form. Warm Up: None. Tuesday, November 21: No homework. In Class Today: Students will continue to work on the Create a Civilization project. Warm Up: None. Wednesday - Friday, November 22 -24: Holiday Monday, November 13: Finish your infrastructure chart.
In Class Today: Students will learn the definition of infrastructure. They will analyze why ancient civilizations would have needed infrastructure. They will make modern day connections by examining scenarios and choosing an appropriate form of infrastructure for each. They will use links in Google Classroom to complete a chart in their composition books. Warm Up: Students will brainstorm modern day examples of infrastructure. Tuesday, November 14: Work on the study guide for the Achievements Unit test. Study guide is due on Thursday. The test will be on Friday. In Class Today: Students will complete a SAS Curriculum Pathways activity on the Great Wall of China. Warm Up: Lotus diagram activity Wednesday, November 15: Finish your study guide. It is due tomorrow. In Class Today: Students will create a poster on the science and technology achievements for one of the ancient civilizations. Students will use the posters to record science and technology achievements in their composition books. Warm Up: What is one type of infrastructure that modern day society could not live without? Explain your answer. Thursday, November 16: Study for tomorrow's test. In Class Today: Students will review the study guide and participate in review activities for the Achievements test. Warm Up: None. Friday, November 17: No homework. In Class Today: Students will take the Unit 4 Achievements Unit test. Warm Up: None. Monday, November 6: Watch the Brain Pop on the Olympics. On a piece of notebook paper create a Venn Diagram comparing the ancient Olympics to the modern day Olympics. Access Brain Pop on the West Lake site under Student Links. Username is wlms. The password is westlake. Click on Social Studies, then Culture, then Olympics. In Class Today: Students will explore different forms of ancient Roman entertainment. They will compare these activities to modern day entertainment. Warm Up: None. Tuesday, November 7: Finish the literature samples worksheet. In Class Today: Students will learn about the history of writing in the ancient world. They will explore excerpts from well known ancient texts. Warm Up: African proverbs analysis Wednesday, November 8: No homework. In Class Today: Students will read African folk tales. They will develop and act out a skit for one of the tales. Warm Up: How can literature reflect the values of a civilization? Thursday, November 9: Field trip today!! Be at school by 6:30 AM. Bring a disposable lunch and wear your sixth grade t-shirt!
