In Class Today: Students will take the Mesopotamia quiz. They will learn about the physical characteristics of ancient Egypt. Warm Up: None. Tuesday, August 23: No homework. In Class Today: Students will review the geography of ancient Egypt. They will learn about the political system of Egypt and how it revolved around the pharaoh. Warm Up: Students will analyze a quote from the primary document "Hymn to the Nile." Wednesday, August 24: Egyptian "paper doll" is due Tuesday, August 30. *There will be Smart Block sessions on Thursday and Friday for anyone who needs help with the paper doll activity. Students may also sign up in advance for the Monday Smart Block session if they still need help.* In Class Today: Students will learn about the religion practiced in ancient Egypt. They will research an Egyptian god or goddess and create a paper doll. Warm Up: Complete the Egypt map. Thursday, August 25: Paper doll is due on Tuesday. In Class Today: Students will review religion in ancient Egypt and how the role of the pharaoh led to his absolute power. They will learn about the mystery surrounding the death of King Tut. Warm Up: Read "Who was King Tut?" Friday, August 26: Paper doll is due on Tuesday. In Class Today: Students will learn about two famous pharaohs: Ramses the Great and Hatshepsut.
