Monday, August 27: Geography envelope is due tomorrow. Envelope must include 4 physical features of South Asia. Each feature must have five facts and a hand drawn colored picture. The map of South Asia should be in the center of the envelope.
In Class Today: Students will learn about the Aztec, Inca and Maya civilizations. They will create "picture notes" to demonstrate their knowledge. Warm Up: Reading on either the Aztec, Inca, or Maya civilizations. Tuesday, August 28: Study guide for unit 2 test is due on Thursday. Test will be Friday. In Class Today: Students will finish creating their picture notes on the Aztec, Inca and Maya civilizations. They will participate in a gallery walk to share their work. Warm Up: Map work. In Class Today: The Indus Valley group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will learn about ancient South Asia's unique geography by completing a map analysis in Google Classroom. They will then begin working on creating an envelope project on the geography of South Asia. Warm Up: Label the map of India. Tuesday, August 21: No homework. In Class Today: Students will discuss the benefits and disadvantages of monsoons in South Asia. They will continue to work on the Geography Envelope. Warm Up: Article and chart on monsoons in Google Classroom. Wednesday, August 22: Finish labeling the map of Greece. In Class Today: Students will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Greece's geography. The Greece group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will complete an activity in Google Classroom in which they determine the impact of Greece's physical features on the ancient Greeks. They will label a map of Greece. Warm Up: Greece map analysis. Thursday, August 23: Geography envelope is due on Tuesday. In Class Today: Students will learn about the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. They will work on the Geography Envelope. Warm Up: Picture analysis activity. Friday, August 24: Geography envelope is due on Tuesday. In Class Today: The Rome group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will analyze maps of Rome and label their own map of ancient Rome. They will use any extra time to work on the Geography Envelope. Warm Up: The Eruption of Mt Vesuvius article (in Google Classroom). Monday, August 13: All presentation slides must be complete by tomorrow.
In Class Today: Students will finish their Ancient Civilizations Geography projects. Groups will begin presenting tomorrow! Warm Up: None. Tuesday, August 14: No homework. In Class Today: The Egypt group will present their project to the class. Students will take notes on the natural barriers in ancient Egypt and on why Egypt was called the gift of the Nile. Warm Up: Label the map of ancient Egypt. Wednesday, August 15: Finish the Egypt packet. In Class Today: Students will learn about the geography and history of ancient Egypt. Warm Up: None Thursday, August 16: Finish the China geography worksheet. In Class Today: The China group will present their project to the class. Students will complete a literacy based activity to learn about China's geography. They will compare the physical characteristics of Mesopotamia, Egypt and China. Warm Up: Go over the Egypt packet. Friday, August 17: No homework. In Class Today: Students will review China's geography. They will complete a cause and effect analysis. They will label a map of China. Warm Up: Go over the China Geography worksheet. Monday, August 6: Finish labeling and coloring your map of Mesopotamia.
In Class Today: Students will review how geography impacted the lives of the people in ancient Mesopotamia. They will learn about the accomplishments of the Sumerians. Warm Up: What impact do you think the Neolithic Revolution had on the people of Mesopotamia? Tuesday, August 7: No homework. In Class Today: Students will be starting the Ancient Civilizations Geography project. They will research how the five themes of geography impacted one ancient civilization (Egypt, Greece, Rome, Indus Valley, Aztec, Inca, Maya, or China). They will be creating a power point presentation for the class. Warm Up: Students will read a passage and answer a question about the connection between religion and geography in Mesopotamia. Wednesday, August 8: No homework. In Class Today: Students will continue working on the Ancient Civilizations Geography Project. They will continue the research portion of the project. Warm Up: Set a personal goal for what you would like to accomplish today. Thursday, August 9: Your portion of the research for the project must be complete by tomorrow. In Class Today: Students will finish their research and begin creating the slide presentation. Warm Up: BC/AD reading passage. Friday, August 10: No homework.
