Monday, August 27: Geography envelope is due tomorrow. Envelope must include 4 physical features of South Asia. Each feature must have five facts and a hand drawn colored picture. The map of South Asia should be in the center of the envelope.

In Class Today: The Indus Valley group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will learn about ancient South Asia's unique geography by completing a map analysis in Google Classroom. They will then begin working on creating an envelope project on the geography of South Asia. Warm Up: Label the map of India. Tuesday, August 21: No homework. In Class Today: Students will discuss the benefits and disadvantages of monsoons in South Asia. They will continue to work on the Geography Envelope. Warm Up: Article and chart on monsoons in Google Classroom. Wednesday, August 22: Finish labeling the map of Greece. In Class Today: Students will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Greece's geography. The Greece group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will complete an activity in Google Classroom in which they determine the impact of Greece's physical features on the ancient Greeks. They will label a map of Greece. In Class Today: The Rome group will present their Ancient Civilization project. Students will analyze maps of Rome and label their own map of ancient Rome. They will use any extra time to work on the Geography Envelope. Warm Up: The Eruption of Mt Vesuvius article (in Google Classroom). In Class Today: The Egypt group will present their project to the class. Students will take notes on the natural barriers in ancient Egypt and on why Egypt was called the gift of the Nile. In Class Today: Students will review how geography impacted the lives of the people in ancient Mesopotamia. They will learn about the accomplishments of the Sumerians. Warm Up: What impact do you think the Neolithic Revolution had on the people of Mesopotamia? Tuesday, August 7: No homework. In Class Today: Students will be starting the Ancient Civilizations Geography project. They will research how the five themes of geography impacted one ancient civilization (Egypt, Greece, Rome, Indus Valley, Aztec, Inca, Maya, or China). They will be creating a power point presentation for the class. Warm Up: Students will read a passage and answer a question about the connection between religion and geography in Mesopotamia. Wednesday, August 8: No homework. In Class Today: Students will continue working on the Ancient Civilizations Geography Project. They will continue the research portion of the project. Warm Up: Set a personal goal for what you would like to accomplish today. Thursday, August 9: Your portion of the research for the project must be complete by tomorrow. In Class Today: Students will finish their research and begin creating the slide presentation. Warm Up: BC/AD reading passage. Friday, August 10: No homework. In Class Today: Students will continue working on the slide presentation. Warm Up: None. Monday, July 9: Get team paperwork signed. Finish your "Me Map." Your map should consist of an imaginary country in which all of the physical features tell us something about you. Include five physical features such as mountains, lakes, rivers, etc . . . Name your features to reflect something about your personality (favorite foods, teams, hobbies, etc . . . . ).

In Class Today: Students will learn about the difference between absolute and relative location. They will practice finding countries using both types of location. Warm Up: World Map activity.
